Flossing, reading, healthy eating ... some of the things that we all aspire to do more often. But these things are somewhat boring and not very rewarding in the short term. So, we end up skipping doing the right things because there is an effort-barrier to do the right thing.
As you probably know from experience, when things are easier, we are more likely to do them. The lower the barrier to do something is, we are more likely to do it more often.
When we created LoafNest in our kitchen, this is exactly what we were trying to do for ourselves. Today, 94% of LoafNest users say they make bread more often with LoafNest than before.
We knew the benefits of eating healthy, homemade bread free of preservatives and artificial additives. We loved the flavor, taste and texture of a well made loaf of bread. But of course, breadmaking was a cumbersome and difficult task that simply did not fit in a busy life of a working family. We wanted to create something that made artisan breadmaking such a no-brainer and so low effort that even a busy [or lazy depending on how you see;) ] family like ours would make great bread everyday. So we ended up creating LoafNest for ourselves and for anyone in the world who would like make great bread at home without much effort.
Here is how LoafNest makes it incredibly easy to make artisan bread at home. And this ease makes all the difference between making bread regularly and not!
1.There is no kneading
This one goes without saying, but kneading bread is the most laborious and time consuming step in traditional breadmaking. While it is fun to bring a flour and water mixture into a tight ball, not everyone has the time and inclination to do it everyday. LoafNest is based on the well-known no-knead method and skips the kneading step completely. With LoafNest you are mixing a relatively watery dough with just a fork. It is so easy, it is literally child's play.
2. No shaping either!
Even when you use a no-knead recipe, there is always a step of shaping. This is to bring the dough together in a nice shape that somewhat resembles a loaf of bread. With LoafNest, we got rid of the shaping step too. The shape of the LoafNest automatically forms the shape of the dough so there is no need for you to. Neat isn't it?
3. No cleanup
With the kneading and shaping steps gone, there are no hands to wash, countertops to clean or flour dust to remove. The casserole stays clean after most uses since the liner is preventing the dough from sticking to the LoafNest casserole. And the liner itself is non-stick silicone so for most recipes there is really nothing to clean apart from the bowl you mixed the dough in and the fork. Admit it, as much as you love traditional breadmaking, you secretly despise all the cleanup afterwards ;)
4. Fits into your rhythm
When you approach artisan breadmaking the regular way, you have to make your schedule flexible to accommodate for the demands of the recipe. There are recipes that demand you to attend to each step at constant intervals. This is why baking bread has been mostly reduced to a weekend activity for most home bakers. With LoafNest, breadmaking does not have to be just a weekend thing.
LoafNest makes it easy to fit breadmaking in your own schedule. There are only two sets of activities that you need to plan for. The mixing and the baking. And the good thing about LoafNest is you can vary the gap between these two activities as much as you can. Want a loaf for dinner tomorrow and you have a few minutes this evening? No worries, mix with little yeast and use a cooler place to raise. Forgot to make dough for dinner in a few hours? Just use a lot of yeast and use a warm place to raise the dough. With LoafNest you are the boss of your breadmaking, not the other way around.
5. It is forgiving
A small mistake in weighing or proofing in a traditional recipe makes the difference between a great loaf and brick. And for most beginners, these mistakes are sufficiently discouraging enough for them to stop baking bread altogether. What a tragedy! Not with LoafNest though. We are all human and we make mistakes. We created LoafNest to be as forgiving as possible for variations and errors in ingredients, weights, times and temperatures. Of course, each variation brings a change in the final result, but each time you are assured of a great loaf.
6. LoafNest is easy to handle
There is no getting around the fact that LoafNest weights 5kg (10 lbs) just like any other cast iron pan of respectable size. That said, we make it as easy to handle and use as possible. The offsets handles allow you to grip the top and bottom parts together when you are handling hot items with your oven mitts. The inclined handles allow you to pick up the lid easily with your mitted hands. The ease of using a liner, pouring in the liquidy dough and not using flimsy baking paper all make it a lot easier to bake with LoafNest than with any other way.
7. Great bread every time
This really is not an ease of use feature, but the fact that LoafNest gives you great loaves everytime gives you the highest benefit to effort ratio. With high heat, high humidity baking, LoafNest gives each loaf its best oven spring and texture. We put in a lot of proven baking science into the design and you can taste it in each loaf. The great taste and texture is so rewarding for the effort that you are easily incentivized to put that (little) effort again and again and again. That is how good habits form.
Conclusion
So, in a nutshell, LoafNest removes the difficulty in pretty much every step of good bread baking and rewards you with excellent loaf every time for your effort. This makes you make bread more often at home and get into a habit of doing so.
